Helen Pratt, project manager, Dementia United, Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership

Helen joined Dementia United in January 2019.  Dementia United is Greater Manchester’s (GM) quality improvement programme which aims to make GM the best place to live if you are affected by dementia. Dementia was agreed as a priority following devolution in GM in 2017 and continues to be so NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care’s Dementia and Brain Health Delivery Plan for 2023 to 2025 – Dementia United (dementia-united.org.uk).  Helen considers it to be a real privilege to work with people affected by dementia, partners and stakeholders across GM. 

Helen has 20 plus years of working in the NHS, in mental health services for older people, as well as in dementia care, as a registered mental health nurse. Helen has a strong clinical background of working in liaison services, in several general hospitals across GM, as well as within community mental health services as an Advanced Practitioner. Helen also has experience of working on quality improvement projects in a number of NHS organisations, including undertaking research and audit projects, as well as a teaching student nurses as a part-time lecturer. For several years, Helen worked as a Clinical Commissioning Manager, within Manchester Health and Social Care Commissioning prior to taking up her post with Dementia United.  Helen has a real passion for gardening, reading, baking and dancing!
