Dr Kay Nolan, head of prioritisation and surveillance, NICE

Kay has over 15 years of experience at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). As head of prioritisation and surveillance, she leads a team dedicated to ensuring NICE focuses on what matters most by identifying the most impactful topics for guidance development. She recently led the creation of a harmonised prioritisation framework, streamlining NICE’s approach to topic selection.

Before joining NICE, Kay was the lead scientist for prison infection prevention at the Health Protection Agency, where she worked on strategies to mitigate infectious disease risks in custodial settings. She has also worked in operational management in the NHS and contributed to multiple health research projects in the UK and South East Asia.

With an academic background in epidemiology and disease modelling, Kay is deeply committed to evidence-based policy, public health and the translation of research into practice to improve outcomes.
