Dr Sarah Byron, deputy director for healthtech and programme director for healthtech strategy and development, NICE
Dr Sarah Byron is the deputy director for healthtech and programme director for healthtech strategy and development at NICE. In this role, she works collaboratively with partners across the NHS and wider life science ecosystem to shape the healthtech strategy at NICE and leads development projects that solve key challenges, balancing the needs of the NHS, patients and industry.
Most recently, Sarah led the development of the National HealthTech Access Programme (rules-based pathway), the transformation of the NICE healthtech programme and the development of the NICE and NHS England genomics pathway. She also established the new guidance approach for health technologies in early use that address key NHS needs, helping to build the evidence base for widespread adoption through early deployment in the NHS.
