Kiran Bali MBE JP, lay member, NICE medical technologies advisory committee
Kiran Bali MBE JP is an experienced leader in governance, ethics, and community engagement, bringing a wealth of expertise to her role as a member of the NICE medical technologies advisory committee (MTAC). Awarded the Member of the British Empire Honour by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 for exceptional community leadership, she has spent over two decades fostering inclusive dialogue and evidence-based decision-making across diverse sectors. She has delivered training and advisory input in over 25 countries, consistently reinforcing the importance of ethical frameworks and community perspectives in policy development.
As a magistrate for 20 years, Kiran has demonstrated rigorous analytical skills and impartial judgment, qualities that underpin her contributions to the evaluation of innovative medical technologies. Her professional background includes serving as a Climate Action commissioner and international spokesperson on social cohesion, environmental justice, and health equity.
Kiran’s role on the MTAC reflects her commitment to ensuring that new medical technologies are assessed with integrity, transparency, and a focus on improving patient outcomes. She brings a unique combination of governance experience, cultural competence, and strategic insight to NICE’s mission of advancing high-quality, evidence-based healthcare guidance.
