Prof Rick Body, professor of emergency medicine, University of Manchester and NICE committee chair
Rick Body is a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Manchester, chair of the NICE interventional procedures advisory committee, an NIHR senior investigator, and honorary consultant at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He is editor in chief at the Emergency Medicine Journal, theme lead at the NIHR Healthtech Research Centre for Emergency and Acute Care, and lead for Innovation and Partnerships at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre.
Rick has 20 years of experience researching and implementing new diagnostic pathways for myocardial infarction in emergency care settings, with a current focus on ambulance care. He was previously director of research and innovation at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (2020-25), director of the Manchester Diagnostics and Technology Accelerator (2017-20), and co-led the COVID-19 National Diagnostics Research and Evaluation (CONDOR) platform.
